  • Code-A-Phone Answering Service is a Probation service for individuals who are enrolled in our department’s Random Urine Testing Program (RUT).

    • Procedure for Offenders:

      • IN ORDER TO NOTIFY YOU THAT A TEST IS SCHEDULED, WE UTILIZE A TELEPHONE ANSWERING SERVICE. YOU WILL BE INSTRUCTED WHEN TO REPORT FOR TESTING VIA A RECORDED TELEPHONE MESSAGE.

You must call daily, Monday thru Friday, regardless of when you were last tested, since "back to back" testing is sometimes required.

The number to call is (347) 534-3407.

The daily call-in hours are from 8:00 PM to 2:00 PM (the next day), Monday thru Friday. This gives you 21 hours to call in and see whether you have been scheduled to report. If the line is busy when you call, simply hang up and try again later. Be sure to call during the indicated time and LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE MESSAGE. We record each day's message so that we have a permanent record of those clients who were instructed to report. DO NOT LEAVE ANY MESSAGE WHEN YOU CALL.

To avoid using names, each client is assigned a unique color code. Your officer will advise you which color you have been assigned.

When your specific color is mentioned, you are to report to the U.S. Probation Office between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM on the date that is on the recording. Only one color allows for late reporting and is reserved for those individuals who are employed full-time and meet additional criteria.

Depending on which site your probation officer assigned you to, you may report to either:

        • BROOKLYN, N.Y.
27 Johnson Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201
          Tel. No. (347) 534-3400

          • REGULAR HOURS FOR RUT IN BROOKLYN (PIERREPONT ST.)
            8:00 AM thru 12:00 PM
            1:00 PM thru 3:30 PM

        • CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y.
202 Federal Plaza West Wing 2nd Floor, Central Islip, NY 11722-9012
          Tel. No. (631) 712-6300
          • REGULAR HOURS FOR RUT IN CENTRAL ISLIP
            9:00 AM thru 12:00 PM
            1:00 PM thru 4:30 PM

You must be able to produce a photo identification when you report for testing.

If the recorded message has indicated that you are to report for testing but you fail to do so, you will be in violation of the conditions of your supervision, and applicable sanctions will be imposed. if you find the system inoperable, you MUST contact your probation officer before 10:00 AM the next morning to determine if you are to be tested that day.

Failure to comply with any of these instructions, refusal to submit to testing, deliberate evasion, or, the use of any device to avoid testing, will result in adverse action.
